Drugstore Beauty Haul - January 2016

Bonjour!
I asked on Twitter (@vieavecchar - follow me!) if you would like to see this today, and the majority said yes! So I thought I would share my recent beauty purchases with you. I got everything from Superdrug, actually that's a lie, I got one thing from Boots. I thought I'd try a new style of writing for this post, let me know if you like it! January Clothing Haul

Bonjour!
Its been a while, hasn't it?! I'm really sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy and I've been feeling a little de-motivated, to be honest.
Anyway, I'm back! So I've been outside *I know, the shock, the horror* and I've bought some new clothes. But before I begin, I'm not trying to show off at all and I did take my old clothes to a charity shop.
I most of my items are from New Look but I have got a few pieces from other shops, so I will get them out the way first. I apologise for the bad photography, I was trying to take them before it got dark in my room and I have taken them in my mirror, so they're not as clear.

Leather Jacket - Miss Selfridge
I've been looking for a leather jacket for AGES so I was *and still am* so excited when I got this! It was quite pricey but I am definitely going to get my money's worth as I can wear it all year round, for loads of different things. (I'm thinking of doing a 'How I Style Leather Jackets' blog post in the future, so let me know if you'd be interested in that please).

Black Handbag - Peacocks
I have been wanting a black faux-leather hand bag for SO LONG! I have seen them practically everywhere and I instantly fell in love with this one. Its huge and can fit loads in it. I bought this because I thought it'd be good for travelling or days out. Also, its big enough for me to put shopping in, so I don't have to carry loads of bags (by shopping I mean when I went to Superdrug and bought far more than I needed). It does look a lot bigger in the photo though. (There is a better picture further in the post).


Black 'Converse' - New Look
I was going to buy some black Converse, but these were only £10, so I thought 'Nah. I'll buy these'. They are very comfortable and I plan on wearing them a lot throughout the year. (Here is the better photo o the hand bag btw).

Tee Shirts - New Look
I saw these 2 tee shirts and I thought they'd be good for lazy days, or whenever really. I got a black one with 'Nothing to Wear' on it and a white one with French things, because I like French things, as you may have guessed. The white one is a bit thin though.



Blue Tartan Pinafore and Black Long Sleeve Top
I pretty much just summed it up in the sub-heading. I am wearing a black long sleeve top and a blue/black/grey pinafore dress and I love them. A lot. (I added some black tights as well). I love this as it could be dressed up with little black boots or dressed down with my black 'converse'. I have added a little close up of the dress so you can see the pattern clearer.



City Graphic Print Jumper - New Look
I don't know what this is actually called, but that's what I put! I love this because its really soft, comfy and I love how its basic, but really cute. You can't really see what it says but it has Stockholm, Berlin, Copenhagen on it. I have been to Copenhagen (and its beautiful btw) and I really want to visit Berlin and Stockholm.

Jewellery - New Look
I don't know if that's right or not, I can never spell it. Anyway, New Look's jewellery is always really pretty, especially their necklaces. I got a pack of 6 'statement' rings, a really pretty necklace with 5 flowers (its like a mix of copper and rose gold, its just beautiful) and a silver ring with little 'diamonds' on it.

My Baby Lips Collection and Swatches

Bonjour!
I haven't done a beauty post in AGES so today I thought I would show you my collection of Maybelline Baby Lips and do swatches of each of them. In the UK, you can buy Baby Lips at Superdrug (in store and online), Boots (in store and online) and I think you can get them on feelunique.com.

Original Collection
This is the original collection of Baby Lips. There are 2 others (3 if you are in the US), but they are very pigmented, so I'm still debating on whether or not I want them.

Dr. Rescue
These are good for dry lips and they come in a 4 different colours, but I only have one. I haven't swatched this one as it is very similar to Melon Mania and is very sheer. This is the first Baby Lips I ever bought and I still love it!

How To Handle Bad Days

Bonjour!
One of my friends requested for me write this post and I think that it may help a few of my readers. I am going to talk about bad days and how you can overcome them.
Firstly, bad days just happen. There's nothing you can do about it. Most of the time they are caused by other people, work, school or stress in general and sometimes you can just wake up and it has begun. So today I am going to share with you some ideas for how you could handle bad days.


  1. Do something nice for someone else - I know this may sound ridiculous because its most likely other people that ruined your day, but doing something that might make someone smile could have the same affect on you.
  2. Distractions - Create some distractions. Listen to music, watch YouTube videos, watch TV, read a book, go for a walk. Anything. Just do something to take your mind off it.
  3. Make a list of things you are thankful for/happy about - This will help you remember how happy you were at some point. Then all the bad things will be removed from you mind and refilled by happy memories and thoughts.
  4. Talk to someone - There is always someone who will listen to you. Your friends, your parents, your siblings, family members, teachers. Anyone will listen and they could help you. I tell my friends that if they ever need anyone, no matter where, what time, whatever's happened, they can call me or tell me. I think if you know someone is there, the problem doesn't seem as big.
  5. Tomorrow's a new day - Just remember it will all be over tomorrow. Its not going to happen forever and your bad day will finish when you go to sleep. Tomorrow's a fresh start, use it to the best of its ability.
  6. Remind yourself of your other identities - You might be having a bad day because you fell out with your parents. But don't think that you are just their daughter/son. You are your sibling's sister/brother. Your friends' friend. Don't think that because you have fallen out with one person because you are someone to them, it doesn't mean you are the same person to everyone else.
  7. Keep in perspective - Will today matter next year? Will it matter next month? Next week? Tomorrow? No. Your bad day will end, it wont haunt you forever.
  8. Write down your problems - maybe you feel as though your parents love your sibling more than you. Maybe you feel as though you are being left out. Writing it down is helpful as it makes all the bad thoughts leave your head and then you can begin to forget them.
  9. Make a 'happy box/book' - Make up a box of everything that makes you happy. Add things like photos, your favourite DVDs or books. You could also make a little scrapbook full of photos with your family and friends that make you remember good days and happy memories. Then you can look back through your box/book when you are feeling down.
  10. Remember what you have achieved - Write a list of all your achievements that you are proud of. You could put it in your box/book! Maybe you got on to a sports team, got good marks in your exams, even if you just made yourself a cup of tea. Write them down and you will feel better about yourself.
  11. Relax - Read a book, have a pamper evening, see friends. Do whatever you like doing because it will make your day better.
  12. Go somewhere you are happy - I usually go to YouTube, Instagram and/or Twitter because its where I'm happy. Being a blogger is like my 'secret identity' no one really know who I am and I can just be myself, which makes me happy. It may be your bed, a place that means something to you or out in a field with your dog. Your mind will remember how happy you have been in these places and make you feel the same emotions you did then.
  13. Plan a Trip/Day Out - It will give you something to look forward to. It have in the near future, you could meet up with your best friend and plan a trip back packing in Europe when you are adults if you want to.
  14. Comedy - When I'm having a bad day, I like watching Russell Howard's Good News, Mock the Week, Miranda and films/shows in Netflix. They give me something to make me smile and laugh at, then I forget everything.

Stress

Bonjour!
So today I thought I would talk to you about stress. I'm not saying I'm some sort of lifestyle guru, but I'd like to think I know a little bit. In the lower years of secondary school, stress practically took over my life. This is because I had a lot of stuff to do and I didn't know how to manage my life well. Also, when I got stressed I didn't really tell anybody, meaning I was keeping it all to myself, no one could help me, and it all just bottled up.
I only really started thinking about this today.

t the start of the school year, we got a new form tutor who asked us to write some things about ourselves. I can't remember what I put, but I know I mentioned how easily I get stressed. Today my form tutor asked to speak to a few of us individually, and I had no idea why he wanted to speak to me, but it was about my little statement from September. He wanted to know if I was stressing at the moment (my exams started today, so I should probably be revising right now. Oh well), and I said no.
I surprised myself, but then I realised I haven't. Not as much as previous years anyway. He asked why, I thought about it and answered "I found things that I enjoy doing, to help me calm down". Which is true. Before this new year, my life has been pretty much school/work orientated, and that's really bad. I'm not saying school isn't important, but it shouldn't rule over you. One thing that is repeated constantly in school is "if you don't get good grades, you won't get a good job", this may be true, but it also sets a lot of stress and pressure on students. Teachers say to "strive for greatness" but I think its equally important to "strive for happiness". After all, you can't be great without being happy. And I think that's a big thing people forget.
I mentioned earlier about finding things to do that make me happy and feel relaxed. One thing is music. I went to YouTube and created some playlists, the one is listen to most is 'Music'. I added all sorts of music, I found that, by adding a wide variety of songs I liked, I feel more relaxed, when I listen to it. My playlist includes:
  • Shawn Mendes (Stitches, Never Be Alone, Believe, Something Big, Life of the Party and Show You)
  • Little Mix (Clued Up, Grown, Secret Love Song and Lightning)
  • Disney - I still believe some Disney songs have more meaning behind them than some of the music around now (Lemonade Mouth - Determinate, Breakthrough, Turn Up the Music and Somebody - Descendants - Set It Off, If Only)
  • Random - Perfect (One Direction), Photograph (Ed Sheeran), United States of Pop 2014 Mash Up (DJ Earworm)
Another thing I love to do is blogging. Sometimes this can be stressful on its own, but I made my blog to give myself a little 'get-away' from everything. An aspect of blogging I love is the social media, especially Instagram. I love finding new accounts to follow as they give me inspiration for my feed and blog.
Most importantly, I wanted to tell you that
BELIEVING IN YOURSELF IS THE FIRST STEP TO SUCCESS
Its true. When I stress, it usually involves a few tears, a drop in my self esteem and my life to seem pointless. Sometimes, I try and get over stressing by having a IDGAM (I don't give a monkeys) attitude, this includes me just thinking "In the end, it won't matter". And sometimes, that's the best way to calm down.

How To Stop Procrastinating

Bonjour!
So I've already failed not procrastinating. This post was supposed to go up on Thursday and I had another post scheduled for today, but I was so tired because of revision so I ended up not writing it, sorry! Anyway, I asked on Twitter if you wanted to see this post or the one I had scheduled, and it was 50/50, but I decided to do this one as it turns out I didn't have the stuff I needed for the other one!
So as I sit here, listening to Shawn Mendez and spending to much time writing this as I keep stopping to do odd dance moves *is it just me who thinks they sound better singing when you have earphones in?*, I am going to attempt at helping you solve an almost incurable problem.


  1. Make a To Do List and Put It Somewhere You Can See It All The Time - Also put the deadlines on here so that you are constantly reminded of when the task needs doing by. I found somewhere that you make a list on the notes app on your phone/tablet/iPad, screenshot it and set it as your lock screen, so that every time you go on your device, resulting in procrastination, you will be reminded of how busy you are.
  2. Turn Off All Distractions - Put all your devices in a draw/cupboard, power them off, put on silent to be sure. Just hide it. If its in your line of vision, you will be tempted to use it. And if you aren't willing to give up your devices, you could delete the apps off your phone, not games and stuff, social media apps, as you won't be able to go on them.
  3. Reminders - Whether it be on your phone, your mum yelling at you every five minutes, just get a reminder. Its also a good idea to have something in front of you that will remind you to do something. So if you are a YouTuber, set up your camera, if you are a blogger, leave your blog open on your laptop, if you are procrastinating from school work a) I wish you all the luck in the world and b) make a pile of all your school books on your desk.
  4. Negotiate With Yourself - Say something to yourself like "I you complete your physics homework, you can go on Instagram for 15 minutes", for example. I hate physics. Sorry, bit of a tangent. Your brain will then think you are getting a reward for doing a simple task, and will try and get it done as quickly as possible.
  5. Tell Other People - By making your 'to-do list' public (i.e. tweeting about it or telling your friends) there is added pressure to complete it, as people will ask if you have finished it yet. Also, they might offer to help you to get it done, bonus!

Revision Tips - January 2016

Bonjour!
Christmas has ended, New Years' is over, that's right people. Its exam season. Dun dun duuunnnn. My exams start on the 13th and I am really sorry if the next few posts are kind of basic and the photos are rubbish, but I don't have a lot of time on my hands. Please bare with.
Nevertheless, I thought I would share some of my tips for successful revision.

  1. Go Somewhere Quiet - You will be able to concentrate better and your brain will be more focused on revising, not background noise.
  2. Sit Somewhere Comfy - But not to comfy so that you fall asleep! This means your more relaxed and your brain won't wander off thinking about how uncomfortable you are.
  3. Make a Plan of When You are Going to Revise - first put all your other commitments and see what time you have left for revision and add slots for different subjects. Decided when you are going to revise what so that you are getting enough revision time in. I have used a website called 'Get Revising', which is a website where you can create a timetable which lets you add in your exams, other commitments and school, then gives you slots of when you can revise each subject.
  4. Use Colour - Your brain will be more interested and focused if your notes are more appealing.
  5. Take Breaks - I usually do about 15-30 minutes of revision of one subject, then have a 10-15 minute break (depending on how much revision I just did). This gives you a little 'breather' and means you can come back more focused and relaxed. I usually check my social media, go downstairs and get a drink or a snack or go and talk to someone.
  6. No Distractions - By putting away your phone and your laptop *or whatever electrical devices you have*, you won't be tempted to use them when you are revising. This doesn't just include your electronics. Siblings and other family members can be quite distracting as well. So go somewhere out of the way, where its quite and 'private'.
  7. If You Don't Understand, Ask Someone! - If there is something on the revision list I don' understand, I usually ask my teacher or my friends. Its better to ask and understand, than to be confused and fail.
  8. A Study Buddy - Kind of goes against number 6, but having someone to help you revise or having someone to revise with is sometimes better for some people. You could do little tests for each other, quick fire questions (if your just sat revising, quickly ask them a question to do with your test and see if they know it, if they don't, that's what they need to revise), or you could do test recalls.
  9. Get Lots of Sleep - Sleep is essential. It helps your brain refresh and be ready to start revising and able to take in all your information.
  10. Be Organised and Use Your Time Wisely - Make a little timetable of when you are going to revise, when the exam is and also add your other commitments so you can work around them. This also means using your time wisely. Don't waste time and not revise, it won't work out very well in the long run.
  11. Keep All Your Notes Together - I use a folder to keep all of my notes together, with little page dividers for each subject, with the revision list of the front. This means all your revision is in one place and you can take to school or where ever you would want to take it, with you.

My Goals for 2016

Bonjour!
Happy New Year! I hope you like my little 're-design' of my blog! New Year, new look! I was just trying to change it back, as it was Christmassy last month, and I got a bit carried away. I have added some of my most popular blog posts to the sidebar and updated my 'About Me' page. Yesterday I posted my New Years' Resolutions for 2016. So if you haven't read those yet, go and check them out after you've read this!
To kick off 2016, I thought I'd share my Goals for 2016! They are in the picture below, but I have explained them in a bit more detail below.
My 2016 Goals ft. TABINOF
  1. Hit 1200 Instagram Followers - At the time of me writing this, I have 813, 803 of those we got between July 28th and New Year's Eve. So that's 387 by December 31st 2016. If your not following me already, I'm @vieaveccharlotte.
  2. Hit 120 Twitter Followers - I currently have 68 twitter followers, that's 52 until 120. It may seem a little steep, but I think we could do it! I'm @vieavecchar.
  3. Get 50 Followers on Bloglovin' - I have 7 at the minute, and I've had 7 for a while. This is quite a big goal, ah well! You can click the button on the sidebar to follow me if you want to!
  4. Reach 3000 Total Page Views - At the minute I have had 1667 page views, since I started at the end of July. Once again, seems a bit steep, but a girl needs to dream big doesn't she? 
  5. Make Some Blogger/Internet Friends - This was one of my New Years' Resolutions and I'd think it'd be quite fun. So if anyone reading is a blogger and would like to maybe do a collab post, look at Contact tab at the top of my blog!
  6. Stay Positive - This will be very difficult, but I've got to try! Last year, I was feeling a bit negative, so this year I am going to try and think positively. Last year, some people made me a teeny weeny bit upset, but this year I will not be fazed by anybody or anything. *She says doubting herself already*.
  7. Be Kind to Everyone - Like number 6, it will be difficult. But I'm going to try!
  8. Write At Least 100 Blog Posts - That's 8 and a bit every month! I do have a few ideas written in my notebook. If you have any ideas for me leave them in the comments, Instagram or tweet me!
  9. Take Better Photos for My Blog and Instagram - I have been taking my photos on my phone and then uploading them. I want to use my actual camera more (I can now as I got an SD card reader for Christmas) as it takes better photos. I also need to take my photos before they need to go up, I end up taking them when its dark, so I need my bedroom light on, then there's a shadow! Aarrgghhh! That's one thing I don't like about Winter.
